great question! sent me on quite the search. Check out the first "Jam" track on DP 5... around 1:14-1:25, after Estimated prophet. It's very brief... in fact he noodles with the phrasing and then settles on the "actual" bassline for only a bar or so. But it certainly reminds these ears of that magnificent "A Love Supreme" theme.

I hear Phil getting there about the 5 minute mark...you are absolutely right. Seems that at about 2:30 he starts in on "He's Gone", but the band isn't quite ready yet so he seems (in my view) to move into a "Caution"eque bass line and then hits "Love Supreme" at about 5 minutes in. I'm going to have to do more checking, because my memory has it as being pretty obvious and I'm not sure this fits the bill.
